Brian Curran is Marie Curie Cancer Care's Community Fundraising Manager for West Yorkshire. Brian worked as a residential social worker and volunteer bureau organiser before joining the charity 12 years ago.

He said: “I was first attracted to community fundraising because it gave me the opportunity to make a difference to people's lives by utilising the skills I developed in previous jobs within the voluntary sector, together of course with my general life experiences!

“The role enabled me to think creatively about recruiting supporters and raising money for a worthwhile cause. It also gave me the opportunity to converse, bond and react to a broad range of people.

“I enjoy working for Marie Curie Cancer Care because all ideas are listened to and it is a very supportive and friendly environment on all levels. No two days are ever the same and every hour can bring a different challenge – it's the best job I've ever had.”
