"The hospice was just what I was looking for."

Janet Suart

Janet Suart is a Clinical Ward Sister at the Marie Curie Hospice, Penarth. She has worked at the hospice for more than seven years.

Prior to joining Marie Curie Cancer Care Janet worked in Africa for 12 years as a midwife. She wanted a complete change of career but didn't want to come out of nursing.

She said: “The hospice was just what I was looking for. It gave me the opportunity to set myself new goals while still tapping into my previous experiences.

“I am very involved with my patients and no two people are ever the same. Psychological and emotional support is a big part of my job, as is sitting and listening to patients, setting them goals and supporting families through extremely difficult times.

“Of course, the role is very challenging but it is, above all, extremely rewarding and satisfying.”
