The five minute film, entitled Food for Thought, was made by trainees as part of the Media Foundation Placement scheme.

The focus is on the kitchen team of four chefs and four kitchen porters, who prepare 32 patient meals and 20 staff meals every day. Along with interviews from patients and clinical staff, their routine helps provide an intimate portrait of the work the hospice does.

Chef Ted Brandt said: “We were filmed talking to patients, doing dishes and going around the kitchen staff and housekeepers. It came spontaneously to us – we just got on as usual. The patients got involved, and we had a laugh and a chat.

“The film people were very co-operative – if we asked them to wait while we did something, that was fine. It was good having them around the place, and we’re please with the results.”

The film can be seen on the ITV local website.
