Chancellor Gordon Brown welcomed three Marie Curie Nurses to the Treasury on April 19.
They met to celebrate the fact that Marie Curie Cancer Care has reached the milestone of providing 1 million hours of care to terminally patients in their own homes in the last 12 months.
Rt Hon Gordon Brown, said: "I want to applaud the dedication and selflessness of the Marie Curie Nurses I have met today, and all the Marie Curie staff up and down the country who work so hard to provide care and support to those who need it most. They are an inspiration to us all."
The Chancellor was joined by Secretary of State for Northern Ireland and Wales, Peter Hain. He said: "Marie Curie Nurses give much needed comfort and support to patients and their families during what is a tremendously difficult and emotional time for everyone involved. As with everyone in the caring professions, Marie Curie Nurses offer a level of commitment and care that goes beyond simply doing their jobs.
