Three Kites Flying on Parliament
Hill by Dawne Solomons
Dawne Solomons, who died in February, produced the work featured in An Art Therapy Journey in her sessions with the hospice’s Art Therapist, Michele Wood.
Dawne was keen to publish the book because so many people asked her what art therapy involved, and felt that more people should know about it.
The book features extracts from her journal alongside her artwork.
In the introduction, Dawne writes: “I have some inner need to put my feelings on paper; and I believe that it has helped me to express myself on an arduous and often impossible journey when I couldn’t express myself in any other way.
“That is why I wanted to share these sketches, so that others could understand how art therapy has helped me through some very bad times, and could perhaps help them too.”
Hard copies of the book are still available for a minimum donation of £25 from Liz Allen, Community Fundraising Manager for North London, Marie Curie Hospice, Hampstead on 020 7853 3442.
Design of the book was handled by Art Therapy Volunteer Adam Levene and Design Team Manager Sarah Denney. Part of the print costs of the limited edition run was donated by Selsey Press.
The book can be downloaded for free from the Marie Curie Hospice, Hampstead website.
