Scottish Parliament toasts charity’s anniversary

Marie Curie Cancer Care has celebrated its 60th anniversary with a Blooming Great Tea party at Holyrood.

Around 30 MSPs joined Marie Curie Cancer Care volunteers, hospice and nursing staff for a cup of tea and a slice of cake to mark 60 years of care.

Shona Robison, Minister for Public Health, said: “The Scottish Government congratulates Marie Curie Cancer Care for 60 years of its invaluable nursing and care provision.

“The care provided by Marie Curie over the past 60 years cannot be underestimated in terms of the quality and the impact it has made to people with cancer and other illnesses, and their families.

“We look forward to working in closer partnership with Marie Curie Cancer Care through Better Health, Better Care to provide the best palliative care to more people in Scotland.”

Maggie White, Caring Services Manager for Marie Curie Cancer Care, Scotland commented: “We are very proud to be celebrating the charity's 60th year of service, and particularly in the magnificent surroundings of Holyrood.

“We are delighted to have so much support from MSPs across Scotland, who recognise and appreciate the work we do, and we were very pleased to see so many supportive faces at the event.”
