The evening was hosted on July 21, when 800 guests saw work by acclaimed painters, sculptors, printmakers and architects.

The highlight of the evening had Christie’s South Kensington Chairman Hugh Edmeades lead an auction of works donated by prominent artists, including Ken Howard, Barbara Rae, Mary Fedden and Peter Blake.

Special Guest Maureen Lipman was on hand to announce the winner of the Lucky Programme draw for City Scene, a unique work by Helen Monro Turner.

Special Events Manager Sally-Ann Slater said: “We’d like to thank everybody involved who helped to make this year’s private view such a success.

“From our volunteers and Royal Academy Committee members to our special guests and generous bidders, all contributed to a wonderful evening and helped raise a fantastic total for the charity.”
