Charity thanks its volunteers
This week is National Volunteers’ Week, when Marie Curie Cancer Care celebrates the contribution that volunteers make to the charity.
Celebrations are taking place across the country to thank volunteers for their hard work.
Over 12,000 ‘thank you’ cards have been sent, while posters are being displayed in hospices, shops and at fundraising events.
The charity’s volunteering web pages have also been relaunched. A virtual scrapbook tells the stories of some of our current volunteers, while others can leave their messages on a new forum.
Nominations are also being sought for the Volunteer Achievement Awards 2008, which honour exceptional volunteers in all areas of the charity.
National Volunteering Coordinator Jo Wilson said: “Volunteers’ Week is our chance to say a huge thank you to our volunteers for the contribution they make to the charity.
“Without their commitment we wouldn’t be able to provide the care that we do.”
