Dealing with money

Handling the funds your group has raised

There are some basic procedures for handling money in cash, cheques or charity vouchers in order to:

  • help your group keep records of the money you have raised
  • protect the charity from fraud, theft or embezzlement and protect members or volunteers from claims of dishonesty
  • assure donors that their donation or gift was used for the purpose it was given
  • enable the charity to maintain current and accurate records of supporters and their contributions
  • assist Marie Curie in making accurate plans for the future
