From patients and their families to hospice staff and local healthcare professionals, the new hospice will have an immediate effect on people in the community and a long-term impact on nursing services in the West Midlands region.

Betty Worthington, hospice day patientBetty comes to the hospice twice a week. She enjoys chatting to nurses and playing board games. She says the new hospice is needed so that Marie Curie can care for more people in the area.

They are looking forward to the new hospice having a bright, cheerful décor that’s more inviting to patients and visitors, while still keeping the same friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
Jane Vaughn, Marie Curie NurseFor Jane the new hospice will make such a big difference to patients, allowing them to have space to socialise with their families and each other as well as offering single rooms for privacy and dignity when they need it most.

She is encouraging everyone to get involved through the many fundraising and volunteering opportunities throughout the appeal.
Helen Brown, Marie Curie NurseHelen cares for patients at the end of their lives in their homes to make sure they are comfortable. She also offers support to their carers and families. The new hospice will be a centre for all community-based nurses like Helen in the West Midlands.
