New approaches

As well as providing care, Marie Curie Cancer Care has a strong commitment to developing new approaches and services to improve care for patients at the end of life.

We have a team of experts in service redesign, innovation and culture change who undertake a range of projects to give more patients choice about where and how they receive care at the end of life.

Many of our projects are undertaken in partnership with other organisations and this collaboration helps us to gain a better understanding of how care at the end of life may differ depending on a patient’s diagnosis, other health and social care needs or the systems of care in place around them.

Based on evidence about patients' and carers' needs and preferences, we develop and test new ideas for care.

Our Innovation Team works closely with our Marie Curie nurses and hospices to continually improve our own services.

We also have a growing team of specialists in evaluation to make sure that all our care provides the highest standard and the best possible experience of care.
