"I can honestly say it has been a positive experience all round."
Eric Miller
We welcome adults of all ages to our hospice day services. With group activities and individual appointments we can help you choose the best options to suit your health needs, lifestyle and circumstances. Services are always free for patients and families.
Our specialists can help with different aspects of your illness and will recommend a personal programme of care.
Your care will focus not only on the physical symptoms of your illness, but also on helping you to regain control and improve your overall quality of life.
As part of your programme you will be able to choose from a menu of services, including:
Sessions held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am - 2pm.
You can come to the hospice for one session each week. Our nurse specialist will offer advice on symptoms and you can also get the support of other members of our hospice team.
These sessions allow you to meet and gain mutual support from others in a similar situation.
A light lunch is available and we can provide transport if you need it.
Clinics are held Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm.
You can visit one of our specialist doctors, nurses or another team member such as the physiotherapist or occupational therapist, in our outpatient clinics for a one-to-one consultation.
Sessions are available from Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm.
Our wide range of safe and natural complementary therapies do not replace traditional care, but patients often comment on their relaxing qualities and overall benefits. Appointments are available for carers too.
Therapies include: acupuncture, aromatherapy, Indian head massage, massage, reflexology and reiki.
We offer blood transfusions and bisphosphonate infusions on certain days of the week. Your GP can arrange this for you.
Our trained volunteer visitors can visit you at home for up to three hours a week to offer companionship and support. They will chat or listen to you, join in with hobbies, read to you or just be there.
This can allow your carer to have some free time if they wish.
Ask your nurse or GP to refer you to this service.
Volunteer visitors offer companionship. If you need more support such as nursing care or help on a day-to-day basis contact your GP for advice.
Ask your GP, nurse or hospital consultant if they think you could benefit from Marie Curie Hospice day services and whether they will refer you.
