"Dad loved my dog Bert and it was wonderful to be able to watch him sit in the hospice garden playing with Bert."
George Copeland
Care at the Marie Curie Hospice, Penarth, is always free of charge to patients and their families. But we can only do this thanks to the generosity of our local supporters and volunteers.
We need to raise £6,000 per day to run the hospice - and all money raised locally is spent locally.
There are many ways you can help to fundraise for the hospice - either individually, as part of a community group or at work.
You could organise your own fundraising event - perhaps as a 'thank you' for the care given to a relative or friend – sign up for a hospice trek, form a fundraising support group, make a regular donation or leave us a gift in your Will.
However you want to get involved, our fundraising team at the hospice is ready to help. Contact your local hospice fundraising manager Karen Jones on 02920 426068 or
Every week, volunteers of all ages and backgrounds donate their time to take on roles such as driving patients to appointments, working on reception, helping on the wards or working at a local hospice shop.
Our bereavement services also depend on committed volunteers and many of our complementary therapies are provided by volunteer therapists.
Agreed expenses are reimbursed and we are happy to provide references for prospective employers.
