"Very grateful for everything and everybody who has helped me especially staff."

Staff at the Marie Curie Hospice Solihull explain why they enjoy their jobs as well as revealing their hobbies and favourite songs.
I joined in 2005.
Hearing from our patients and their families that our services, be it a short stay within the in-patient unit, a morning spent in Day Services, a visit at home by one of our clinical nurse specialists or half an hour relaxing with an aromatherapy massage with one of our volunteer complimentary therapists, has not only made their lives more comfortable but has also improved their quality of life.
Difficult as there are so many but from the top of my head, I’m a great fan of Van Morrison and loved the ending of Bridget Jones which was accompanied by Van Morrison’s “Someone Like You”.
Since 2001.
I came back from a holiday and there was an advert in the local paper. My cousin’s wife had recently died from cancer and just felt I would like to give something back for the care she had received.
Knowing that you have hopefully made a new patient and their family feel they are coming into somewhere that’s approachable and friendly.
I’m a proud grandma of five grandchildren ranging from age seven months to five years and also have a new puppy Daisy who my husband and I like to take walking. I also love my garden.
Dancing Queen – Abba.
I started in 2000.
By truly caring and assisting to rehabilitate and regain independence to whatever degree they can.
Fundraising for Marie Curie patients.
Abba – I have a dream... I believe in Angels.
I've been here since 2008.
To achieve good symptom control and allow patients to live until they die.
I offer support and advice to help patients and carers cope with what is often the most difficult time of their lives.
Swimming and entertaining two young children.
Robbie Williams - Angels.
14 years ...but it seems like yesterday.
I find it very humbling meeting all the wonderful people who are eager to help in any way they can, and speaking to families of the loved ones we cared/or are caring for.
By staying motivated and enthusiastic. By engaging the public to join us to raise as much money as we can to continue to fund our Hospice, as well as eagerly talking to who ever will listen to me about our new Hospice we are going to be building for the people of the West Midlands.
I love socializing with my friends, walking, the cinema and going on holiday.
