Dimbleby Cancer CareThe aim of the joint Dimbleby Marie Curie Cancer Care Research Fund is to invest in research areas that are currently poorly funded nationally.

Both partner charities seek to support research into the supportive and palliative care needs of patients who have cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

Research funding criteria

The following criteria should be applied by research funded by the joint fund:

  • Research may be quantitative, qualitative or mixed method
  • Research outcomes should enhance existing knowledge and practice
  • The research outcomes should have a positive impact on patients, families and carers
  • The research outcomes must be widely applicable across the UK
  • There must be a demonstrable need for research in this area
  • The research must not replicate existing or past research within the UK
  • The research must represent value for money
  • Research projects should run for a maximum of two years unless it can be demonstrated that a longer period is necessary to achieve the optimum outcome(s).

Applications to the Dimbleby Marie Curie Cancer Care Research Fund are awarded in open competition and are externally peer-reviewed.
