What to take on a cycling challenge

Below is a checklist of just some of the other personal items you will need during your challenge. Additional items will be recommended by your event organiser.


Checklist

  1. Gel saddle – this is a recommendation as you will be cycling up eight hours a day
  2. A helmet – which should be worn at all times when cycling
  3. Water bottles for your bike or camel pack
  4. Bum bag for carrying small items while cycling, eg camera, sun cream
  5. Small 'day' bag which can be used for extra items and be transported on the support vehicle
  6. Towel for the cycle
  7. Tissues, wet wipes
  8. Sun cream (minimum factor 15)
  9. Camera and film

Additional purchases

  1. A cycling jacket/ reflective is training at night on the roads
  2. Bike lights
  3. Padded shorts often seen as a must have
  4. Cycling gloves
  5. A basic cycling repair kit including a standing pump and inner tubes
