    About this challenge

Slieve Donard which is known as Sliabh Domengard in Irish, is the highest mountain in Northern Ireland.

Situated by the small seaside town of Newcastle on the east coast, it sits at the edge of the Mourne Mountains only 3km from the sea.

This mountain challenge provides walkers with spectacular views of the coast and, as far as Belfast. Running along the mountain’s southern and western shoulders the Mourne Wall is the most prominent feature of this trek.

It is 850 metres high and can take anything from 3-5 hours to climb.

We offer two routes on this trek

We will offer a challenging route which includes the summit or a moderate route around the mountain. No matter which you choose it will prove to be a good day out for all.

Afterwards all walkers will meet in Slieve Donard car park for food and refreshments.

Please join us in this fun event (weather permitting).
