Kilimanjaro Trek

This trip is for anyone who wants to take on a challenge or simply has a dream to stand on the roof of Africa.

June 23 – July 3, 2009

How high would you go for someone with cancer?

At 5,896m and rising majestically out of the surrounding plains, Mount Kilimanjaro is Africa's highest mountain and is a breathtaking sight.

It is one of the largest volcanoes to ever break through the earth's crust and is among the highest freestanding mountains in the world.

This trek takes you up the mountain via the Rongai route which is considered to be one of the most achievable routes to the summit and retains a sense of untouched wilderness.

You will trek through cultivated farmlands, lush rainforests, alpine meadows, and above the clouds to the barren lunar landscape of the upper mountain, before your final push to its snow-capped summit.

The next few pages are packed with information on taking part in the Kilimanjaro Trek and what to expect from doing an overseas challenge for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
