Day 1 – London to Ouarzazate, Morocco
Depart London to Casablanca
- At Casablanca we connect with our onward flight to Ouarzazate.
- On arrival we will be met by our guides, transferred to the Hotel Mercure and have a trek briefing about the adventure ahead.
Day 2 – Quarzazate to Erg Chebbi
Six hour drive/two hours trekking
- After an early breakfast we drive east through legendary scenery towards Qlaat Mgouna Tinjdada and Erfoud, with lunch along the way.
- The last hour or so is off-road in 4x4 vehicles.
- We meet our camel men at the northern part of the Erg Chebbi to begin our Saharan adventure.
- We then trek for around two hours to our first camp at Bouighd, where we will enjoy a traditional Moroccan supper after watching a spectacular desert sunset.
Day 3 – Bouighd camp to Erg Chebbi Dune to Hassi Merdani camp
Six/seven hours trekking
- After an early breakfast we continue our trail through the Sahara.
- We are surrounded by high dunes, most of which are over 150m.
- Our camel caravan carries on gently towards the south. Along the way we climb the highest dune of the Erg Chebbi (170m).
- If the weather is clear you can see the snowy ridges of the High Atlas mountains many miles into the distance.
- Tonight we camp under the desert stars at Hassi Merdani.
Day 4 – Hassi Merdani camp to Merzouga
Three hours trekking
- The final day of our desert escapade.
- A three hour trek takes us to the western side of the dunes not far from the village of Merzouga, which marks the end of our trek.
- From here we will be met and transferred back to Ouarzazate via Rissani, Nkob and Agdez.
- Tonight we will celebrate our achievements with a special farewell dinner.
- We stay overnight at the Hotel Mercure.
Day 5 – Ouarzazate to London
- Early morning transfer to the airport for our fight back to London, via Casablanca.
- Coach transfer from the airport back to your local Marie Curie Hospice.
