Name: Jenny Hutchinson
Age: 54
Which Challenge:
Inca Trail Trek 26 May to 5 June 2005
Did you trek in memory of someone?
I was asked to go the trail by the finest friend one could have - Helen Telford. She wanted to do it in memory of her mother who was looked after by a Marie Curie Nurse and she has also collected for the daffodil week and held coffee mornings in the past.
My mother died of cancer and a good friend also had Marie Curie Cancer Care support for her husband so I immediately said I would do it.
Best Memory from the trip?
It has been one of the most memorable experiences of my life. An adventure of some magnitude, or should I say altitude!
I was one of the fortunate ones who did not get affected by the altitude but that is not to say I did not suffer from tiredness, exhaustion, etc. But I would not have missed it for the world.
Peru is a wonderful place and the scenery stunning. The locals are so friendly and our group was a variable mixture of ages and personalities, but we bonded so well.
I often think of the trek and am so glad I undertook and completed the challenge in aid of such a worthy cause.
Would you do it again?
Hoping to do another one in 2007 or 2008.
