We administer and manage two National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) initiatives which aim to promote and facilitate quality research in Supportive and Palliative Care (SuPaC):

The Liverpool Care Pathway (LCP) for the dying patient has been developed to transfer the hospice model of care into other care settings.

A Marie Curie Helper is a trained volunteer who provides support to terminally ill people and their family or carer. They are someone a patient or carer can talk to – someone who is able to listen and offer advice on local services that they might benefit from.

The MCPCRU was established in 1999, and is now based in the Department of Mental Health Sciences at University College London (the Hampstead Campus) where it has expanded rapidly.
