Joe is Senior Research Fellow for the unit. Joe has a supporting role in helping to increase the research capacity of Marie Curie Cancer Care. This involves providing research advice to Marie Curie Cancer Care staff and developing research studies to increase the knowledge within palliative care.
Before taking up his present post, Joe was a Research Fellow at Southampton University, mainly involved in studies looking at the delivery of stroke services to patients and carers and the development of a needs assessment tool.
His recent research include a national survey looking at GP Registrars perceptions of their palliative care education, an evaluation of specialist palliative care day services and a survey to explore the use of complementary therapies in men with prostate cancer.
His other research interests include the assessment and delivery of psychological care in palliative care, the delivery of palliative care to patients with non-malignant disease and the development of carer interventions within palliative care.
