The Institute is part of the Faculty of Medicine at The University of Liverpool.
It is based at the Marie Curie Hospice, Liverpool with a satellite unit at The Royal Liverpool University Hospital within the Directorate of Specialist Palliative Care.
This is an exciting collaboration between the Voluntary Sector, the University and the NHS, with a multi-professional profile.
The key aims of the Institute are:-
- To promote the best care of the dying.
- To be a leading Institute in palliative care research, development and education with a programme directed to making a difference to patient care.
- To promote effective collaboration and spread of best practice between the voluntary and NHS sectors at local, cancer network, national and international levels.
Our approach is to build on the strengths of the partnerships that are already diverse and dynamic, while identifying and responding to changing needs. We aim to make a significant and measurable contribution at the bedside, through knowledge transfer and related educational and research activities in support of our key themes.
