Event UK Mountain Challenge / trek - boot level 2 smallBoot level two

Slieve Donard, known in Irish as Sliabh Domengard, is the highest mountain in Northern Ireland. Situated by the small seaside town of Newcast on the east coast, it sits at the edge of the Mourne Mountains only 3km from the sea.

This mountain challenge provides walkers with spectacular view of the coast and as far as Belfast. Running along the mountina’s southern and western shoulders, the Mourne Wall is the most prominent feature along this trek.

The climb is fairly easy, though the path is very eroded in places. Trekkers are able to ascend safely thanks to the laying of a stone pathway on the steepest parts of the route in recent years.

We will offer a challenging route which includes the summit or a moderate route around the mountain. No matter which you choose it will prove to be a good day out for all.
