The Cape Wrath Challenges can not be compared to any other running event, offering physical challenge and mental stimulation in unrivalled settings for exhilarating outdoor activities.
The challenges cover six days which include five days of runs of varying lengths and different degrees of endurance:
- the half marathon or 10k Loch Eriboll Road Run;
- the Sangomore Loch Meadaidh Hill Run;
- the 8.4 mile Round Durness Run;
- the Target Zero Faraid Head Beach Fun Run;
- the Cape Wrath Marathon and Relays.
We take runners to the most north-westerly tip of mainland Britain and back on a run that will include two ferry crossings and scenery of outstanding natural beauty. This is a unique event and could be regarded as including the toughest marathon in the UK.
Competitors can pick and chose the events and indulge at their own pace. Our event is designed to give visitors a highland experience by involving them in practices and traditions that are local ways of life.
We involve local customs as social events in our programme including sheepdog trials, croft and farm visits, craft workshops, organised walks to sites of archaeological significance, trips to encounter the local flora and fauna and guided tours of ancient townships with interpretation of the traditions and history.
The local produce is highlighted in the final night Ceilidh to give the participants the experience of a Scottish night.
This is preceded with Scottish Country dancing lessons to encourage an interest and offer opportunities to participate in traditional Scottish culture.
