The Walk

A great day out for all the family. Join us to walk the well known route around Wimball Lake, Exmoor. Enjoy the fantastic views and help to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The circular route of the lake is nine miles in length, takes around three to four hours to complete and is for more intermediate walkers.

There is a shorter three mile route of the lake and woodlands and takes around two to three hours to complete. It is a peaceful walk to the impressive damn via the sailing club and is more suitable for those with younger children.

Both walks allow plenty of opportunity to savour the spectacular surroundings and for those who know the area; the sights are always worth another venture as Exmoor has some of the finest scenery that Britain has to offer.

The Start

Parking is available at Wimbleball Lake (follow the brown signs marked Wimbleball Water Park) and our chosen walk starts from here. The walk takes you around the edge of the lake and nature reserve famous for its wildlife, especially geese and wildfowl. Look out for great crested grebe, cormorants and widgeon.

The Marie Curie Cancer Care registration desk will be located in the car park and once you have signed in you are free to begin. Please arrive at 9.30am for a 10.00am start.

Refreshments

Complimentary refreshments will be on offer at the end of the walk. If you would like to make more of a meal of the occasion, there is a wonderful country pub located close by in Brompton Regis which offers a wide selection of food.

Safety

People with heart disease, high blood pressure, chest problems and pregnant women should not attempt the challenge. If you are in any doubt about your level of fitness, please contact your GP for advise. Walkers aged 16 years or under must be accompanied by an adult.

Please aim to raise at least £50 in sponsorship per adult walker. All money will go towards our local Marie Curie Nursing Service. Once you have registered we shall send you full route details and our official sponsor forms.

To register please complete and return the form below or call Amy on 01460 271230.
