Why not organise your own unique fundraising event for cancer care?
We will work with you to make the most of your talents and ideas.
- Quiz night
A quiz can be great fun - either a general one or with a theme. Charge an entry fee and serve refreshments. Perhaps you could get the food or drink donated by your local restaurant? - Book Sale
Charge a small entry fee and ask your members to bring in their unwanted books and buy new ones. Serve up delicious coffee and cakes as you sell. - Fashion show
Ask local shops to lend you garments for the night (it will be great publicity for them), and ask your fellow members to be models. Charge an entry fee. - Summer picnic
Ask your members to make something yummy for a group picnic and charge for coming along.

Issues to bear in mind
Please bear in mind that as with any event, there may be issues to embrace.
For example, food safety. If you are intending to prepare home-made food ie: sweets, biscuits, cheese cake, apple crumble, scones or sandwiches for the general public, be aware that there are food safety issues to consider. If you give or sell food that causes people to become ill, you are liable.
You must pay attention to food hygiene regulations which are implemented by your local authority. Marie Curie Cancer Care advises you to consult with your local Environmental Health Department in order to check any local requirements. Any guidance should be obtained in writing. As a minimum requirement, you must record the name of the person advising you and the date you spoke to them.
An event you are holding might require special licences; certain lotteries require licences. Health and Safety might be an issue. Carrying out a risk assessment may be a good idea. Marie Curie Cancer Care's nationwide network of fundraisers are experienced with dealing with all issues surrounding running an event, and will ensure your event is organised in the best possible way.
