Belfast Borough Council
The Belfast Lord Mayor has chosen Marie Curie Cancer Care as Charity of the Year this year, and has also kindly given the charity the use of the Great Hall for a ball or dinner. He also visited the Marie Curie Hospice in Belfast very recently.

Limavady Borough Council
The Mayor of Limavady had a personal reason for choosing Marie Curie Cancer Care, as his wife had received care from a Marie Curie Nurse. Community Fundraising Manager for NI West, Sheena Havlin, has now met with Mayor Michael Coyle, to make plans for the year's partnership. The preliminary meeting was very successful and both parties are hoping to establish a Devoted to Life Walk in the area. Also on the agenda is a Springtime Ball, which could well be tied in with March's Great Daffodil Appeal and become a Daffodil Ball. We look forward to an exciting year ahead!

Thank you for choosing Marie Curie Cancer Care, Limavady Borough Council!

North Down Borough Council
The Lady Mayor of North Down Borough Council has chosen MCCC as one of her charities for 2005/6. Community Fundraising Manager for NI South, Phil Kane, has been in regular contact with the council. The Lady Mayor is from the Ulster Unionist Party as is the Chair of Phil's local Marie Curie support group. She is also a personal friend of a volunteer who helps at the Marie Curie Centre, Belfast. One of her fellow councillors at North Down Borough Council has also supported the planting of three Marie Curie Fields of Hope in the Borough.

Thank you also to North Down Borough Council – we wish you all the best for the year ahead!
