Daffodil collection checklist
Even the best-intentioned amongst you might find it hard to drag yourselves out of bed on a blustering March morning but warm yourselves up with our Daff collection checklist and youll be ready to tackle any elements:
- Make sure everyone expected on the Rag Raid has your contact number - and that of a Marie Curie Cancer Care official in case anything goes wrong.
- Make sure you have the contact numbers (including mobiles) of your Marie Curie Cancer Care rep and other members of the Rag team.
- Remind your team when and where you are meeting/leaving from - even act as their morning wake up call.
- Advise everyone to have a hearty breakfast before meeting - you'll be on your feet most of the day.
- Wrap up snug - warm layers and waterproofs. March can be a tad nippy.
- Remember to bring sleeping bags/mats if youre staying overnight - you may have to kip down on the floor.
- If travelling to a Raid, make sure you have checked times, routes, any road works and diversions, ticket costs. Allow time for faffing around.
- Photocopy street maps. Google is useful.
- Check parking facilities for people arriving by car/coach.
- Get your Marie Curie Cancer Care rep to brief you well. Be prepared for frequently asked questions/enquiries.
- Make sure you know the difference between the work of Marie Curie Cancer Care and that of Cancer Research and/or Macmillan. Ask your rep if youre not sure.
- Have a laugh with your mates. Why not dress up? Make sure that all your students have collection permits on them at all times. Ask your rep for details.
- Accommodation: If your team is collecting over the weekend and has travelled a long distance for the raid, speak to your local fundraiser as they will do their best to find you somewhere to stay for free.
- Expenses: If you have travelled outside your local area in the most cost effective way possible, Marie Curie Cancer Care will meet your expenses (up to 10% of your collection total). Ask your local fundraiser for details.
