About The Great Daffodil Appeal

The Great Daffodil Appeal is our flagship fundraising event and takes place every March. The idea is to get everyone across the UK to give donations for daffodil badges and wear them with pride. And because it's Marie Curie Cancer Care's 60th anniversary, we asked you to help us make 2008 the best year ever.

Hugh Grant has supported this year's Great Daffodil Appeal. He said: "When my mother was dying of cancer I saw at first hand what a fantastic thing the Marie Curie Nurses do for people who want to die at home.

"I am now their biggest fan and proud to be backing their Great Daffodil Appeal in March.

"I'll be digging into my pocket and trying to persuade other people to do the same."

Hugh has also spoken to the Daily Telegraph about why he is supporting the appeal. See the full interview here.

Each daffodil grants a last wish
Every donation made for a daffodil means more time for our Marie Curie Nurses to spend caring for terminally ill cancer patients at home. When you're dying of cancer, you want nothing more than to be in the comfort of your own home, surrounded by the people and things you love.

Our nurses are able to turn this wish into a reality by giving hands on, individual care and emotional support to cancer patients in their homes. This service is absolutely free to our patients, so we rely heavily on donations. By taking part whatever way you can in the Great Daffodil Appeal, you'll help our nurses to continue improving the lives of terminally ill people and their families.

Our hospices
We also run 10 Marie Curie hospices across the UK, which offer specialist support to patients in a relaxed, friendly and comfortable environment. As well as looking after in-patients, our hospices offer a wide range of additional services, including day therapy, outpatient appointments and complementary therapies.
