The easiest way to make money from your unwanted goods has now become the easiest way to support Marie Curie Cancer care, just follow the simple steps below.

What is eBay?

eBay is an auction website that allows anyone to buy or sell items online. As a seller you can either fix a price for your goods or allow potential buyers to bid for them in an online auction, with the highest bidder winning. Sellers can specify whether items will be posted to the buyer (at the buyer’s expense) or, for bigger items, whether the buyer will collect.

Whether you’re selling a single item or the contents of your garage, it’s the ideal way to turn your unwanted goods into cash.

How does eBay for charity work?

As a seller you can sign up to the eBay for charity scheme, allowing you to automatically donate a portion of your takings to a charity of your choice. Think of it as your very own online charity shop.

What do I need to do?

Once you've decided what you want to sell, there are three steps you need to take:

  1. Go to the eBay Sell hub and select the 'Advanced Sell' radio button.
  2. Fill out your sale details as normal, looking out for the charity box just below where you set your price. Select a charity to support and the percentage of your final selling price that you'd like to donate. Note - the minimum donation is £1 per listing.
  3. A week after your item sells, Missionfish (eBay's charity partner) will automatically collect the donation from you. You can also manage your donations through the 'My Donations' section of My eBay, under the My Account Tab.
