The Blooming Great Tea Party goes through the looking glass
by Lizzi Hollis Community Fundraiser
On Tuesday, the London fundraising team made the trip to East London to launch the Blooming Great Tea Party in Alice in Wonderland style!
The party was generously hosted by Lauren and her fabulous team at Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium in Shoreditch – a wonderful café that is home to 11 friendly cats who roam around much to the delight of guests. We were treated to an array of baked delights, including red velvet cake, chocolate and Guinness cake and scones with jam and clotted cream. We also enjoyed a selection of delicious teas, which we dined on dressed as the best loved characters from Alice in Wonderland. We were also lucky to be joined by official Tea Party baking Queen Suzy Pelta and Luke Cameron, who, inspired by the amazing work of Marie Curie nurses, has pledged to do a good deed every day for a year and has obtained national news coverage as a result. We hope that our event will inspire many others to host their own tea party. The money our tea partiers raise will help our nurses and hospices continue to provide vital care and emotional support for people living with terminal illnesses and their families. Thank you to everyone who made the event possible, especially the brilliant team at Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium and the lovely people at Mad World Fancy Dress who donated the hire of costumes free of charge.
