What would you like to do before you die?
What would you like to do most before you die? Travelling more, getting a book published as well as winning the lottery all rank high, according to a new national survey we've carried out as part of Dying Matters Awareness Week (12-18 May). Buying a house, skydiving and emigrating were also highlighted as popular lifetime ambitions in the poll. “Travel more” was the most common response given in the survey of 2,334 British adults, with Australia, USA/New York and New Zealand cited as the most desirable destinations, along with a round the world trip. “Having children” and “seeing my children grow up, get married or graduate” were the next most common things people said they would like to do before they die. Earlier on today we continued the debate on Twitter and shared a few surprise celebrity responses from our survey:
"My most bizarre secret ambition was appearing on Strictly Come Dancing, in the arms of the Italian Stallion Vincent Simone." @Edwina_Currie — Marie Curie (@mariecurieuk) May 16, 2014
"I'd like to dance a Michael Jackson routine with Justin Timberlake & Usher. I won't be as good, but I'd give it a go." @ArabellaWeir #YODO — Marie Curie (@mariecurieuk) May 16, 2014
We got a range of great, entertaining responses. One tweeter was even inspired to sign up to a Marie Curie trek:
@mariecurieuk I so would love to join the trek to Peru or Kilimanjaro, how do I apply and when is it ? — Gift Angela (@gift_angela) May 16, 2014
@mariecurieuk just got off the phone from the events team, paying my registration fee end of August :) — Gift Angela (@gift_angela) May 16, 2014
