We know that sometimes fundraising can seem a little daunting, perhaps just as daunting as the challenge itself! But it really needn’t be. With top tips from people like you, who have been in the very same position as you are now, we’ll help you reach your goal.
It might sound like a cliché, but the earlier you start planning and rolling out your fundraising plans, the easier it’ll be. Honest! Here are some tips to help you plan just how you’re going to reach, or possibly even exceed, your target.
Break it all down
Try breaking down your target by setting yourself mini goals of how much you’d like to raise by different points throughout the year. This will help it look a lot more achievable. Alongside each of those target amounts, write down the sort of activities you might undertake to raise that money. This should then give you a clear idea of what your fundraising will look like in the coming months.
Let’s get personal
Everyone has different ideas and ways in which they like to fundraise. But a general rule would be to make it enjoyable for you.
Putting on a series of small fundraising events throughout the year can work really well. Events like cake sales and pub quizzes can make a real difference, and just a few of these mini events throughout the year will put you well on the road to reaching that all important target.
Alternatively, you may like to focus on bigger events that will bring in larger sums of money – especially if you have a group of friends who can support you with the organising. Something like a ball or barn dance can really help swing the momentum of your fundraising.
Use your friends, in a good way. Do they have hidden talents that the world deserves to see? Why not ask them to donate their talent to help you raise money? We’re thinking an acoustic set in the local pub, an evening of crafting, or maybe even didgeridoo lessons!
Speak to your company about Matched Giving. The scheme may differ from company to company, but often companies will either donate a fixed amount or may even match the money you raise pound for pound. If they don’t yet offer Matched Giving, make the ask - what better time for them to start?
