Join a fundraising group
Local fundraising groups raise vital funds for our hospice by organising local events and activities in the area. They also organise collections and provide local support for Marie Curie’s national campaigns such as the Great Daffodil Appeal and the Blooming Great Tea Party.
Joining a fundraising group is a great way to meet new people in your neighbourhood, get involved in your community, share new experiences and have fun while raising money for Marie Curie.
We have fundraising groups operating in the following areas: Aberdare, Barry, Brecon, Caerphilly, Cardiff Central, Cowbridge, Newport, Pontypridd and Penarth. Each group holds events and raises money for our hospice. We are hoping to also start new groups in Merthyr, Tredegar and Chepstow in 2015 so need volunteers there.
If you have some great ideas for events or would like to help out and support the hospice, then call us on 029 2042 6068 or email firstname.lastname@example.org and see how you can join or start a fundraising group or find fundraising information and resources.
Meet the Penarth fundraising group
The Penarth Fundraising Group has been supporting the Marie Curie Hospice, Cardiff and the Vale (formerly Marie Curie Hospice, Penarth) for over 10 years, originally to raise funds for ‘extras’ at the hospice. To date this group of 14 supporters has raised over £100,000.
The group has organised a whole range of events such as quizzes, an annual Ladies’ Lunch and seasonal sales, including some very popular knitted goods at Easter. Members have also supported the Great Daffodil Appeal and Blooming Great Tea Party, helping out with box distribution and money counting among other things.
One member of the group has also taken part in two overseas treks so they are active in many ways and the team at the hospice are very grateful for their wonderful support.
