Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh

In order to pay for the running of the Edinburgh hospice on 10 February 2017, Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh hosted a pin weekend for Hard Rock Cafe pin collectors from all over the world.

The weekend kicked off with two great Rock Bands performing for 220 guests; The Conspirators and Bonafide.

The Hard Rock Cafe was honoured by the lovely Rita Gilligan’s presence on the day, who's been working at the original Hard Rock Cafe in London since it opened in June 14, 1971!

Rita is an honorary MBE and throughout the years, she has served them all – from The Beatles to The Rolling Stones, from Take That to Girls Aloud. She has danced with Ronnie Wood, been serenaded by Noel Gallagher, been kissed by George Michael, had her name in lights at Piccadilly Circus, London and has even brought the traffic on Broadway NY to a standstill.

After a long night, all pin collectors met up for breakfast and an auction and raffle of some very rare and sought after music memorabilia and Hard Rock collectibles, sourced by the Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh and compered by Mark Martin from Forth 1 Radio.

Brian Cairncross and his wife Gayle played an essential role in the weekend. Brian ensured a great turn out of pin collectors and had a special pin created with the proceeds going to Marie Curie. Gayle works for UBS in Edinburgh and the company donated a generous sum towards Marie Curie as well.

The generosity of the pin collectors has been astounding with everybody wanting to donate for the good cause. The weekend has been a team effort and will be remembered for years to come.
