Day therapies for your wellbeing
Our caring hospice staff and friendly volunteers will do their very best to help you live as well as possible with your illness.
Depending on your needs, you can attend one or several of our day therapy sessions. We have a range of therapeutic, creative, social and supportive sessions to choose from to help with your rehabilitation and independence so you can enjoy a better quality of life. We can support your family and friends too.
Support tailored to your needs
We know everyone is different, so our team of nurses, an occupational therapist and a physiotherapist will work with you to set your goals and help you choose day therapy sessions that are right for your needs.
We’ll focus on what matters to you now and help you plan ahead for a time when things may be more difficult. Our social worker, psychologist, chaplain and doctor are also here to help.
You can attend one or several of our day therapy sessions which are designed to:
- help you to learn new ways of coping with your illness and adapt to any changes in your condition and day-to-day living
- help you feel more in control and improve your wellbeing
- provide a supportive environment for you to discuss your hopes and fears, and your goals and care options
- give you any support and information that you, or your family and friends, may need.
Fatigue, anxiety or breathlessness (FAB) group
If you have a progressive illness and are struggling with symptoms such as fatigue, anxiety or breathlessness, this five-week programme can help. We’ll teach you techniques to help you cope with these symptoms in your day-to-day life.
We’ll find out how your illness affects different aspects of your life so we can give you advice and information on our services and other community resources that can help. You can also connect with others in a similar situation as you.
Step by step group
This is our fun, low-intensity exercise group which can help improve your movement, balance, coordination and confidence.
Therapeutic and social activities
We have a variety of therapeutic and social activities to suit people with different abilities and interests. These activities include creative and expressive arts and crafts, music, conversation, relaxation, reminiscence, memory boxes and stories, and much more.
We offer a range of therapies for you and those who care for you, including massage, reflexology and hypnotherapy. Our therapies are all designed to make you feel good by helping to reduce stress, promote relaxation and improve your feelings of wellbeing.
We organise regular social events for everyone who attends our day therapies, including family and friends. At these friendly and informal gatherings, you can meet members of our hospice team and other people who are affected by an illness. We’ve also invited musicians, speakers and even alpacas to make our events extra special, so ask us for more information if you’re interested in attending the next one.
Support for carers
The people caring for you, such as your family or friends, may also benefit from practical and emotional support from our team. They may also wish to meet other carers over tea and coffee.
