Gavin Weir and family
I am funding the hospice in memory of my mum, Janette Weir, who was cared for at Marie Curie Hospice, Glasgow and whose birthday would have been 27th April.
Shortly after arriving at the hospice in April 2012 my mum texted me to say that she was very content and at peace with her situation: “They have moved my bed to the window. The hills are beautiful this morning, just glorious. I couldn’t get better care.” She meant every word of it.
Marie Curie gave Mum and our family so much care, compassion and dignity in Mum's final weeks. I am paying for a day because I would like other families to be able to receive the same support if faced with similar circumstances.
The funds for the day have been generously donated by friends and family who supported my London Marathon run on 24th April 2016. I hope that others will contribute too. In doing so you will be supporting lots of families across Glasgow when they need it most.
