Support for families

We have several areas where families can relax. We also have a multi-faith space, gardens and a spacious family room with a TV and toys.

Families can get snacks and refreshments at the hospice in the Garden Cafe. This is open from 8:30am to 6:00pm, with hot meals served between 12:30pm to 1:30pm, and 5:00pm to 6:00pm. There are also facilities for relatives who would like to stay overnight.

Practical, spiritual and emotional support for families

Your family may need support and we can help them in many different ways - from advice on finances to spiritual support or how to get social care.

Complementary therapies

These sessions are arranged by appointment which last from 30 minutes to an hour.

Our wide range of safe and natural complementary therapies do not replace traditional care but patients often comment on their relaxing qualities and overall benefits. Sessions are open to carers too.

Therapies include: acupuncture, aromatherapy, Indian head massage, reflexology, reiki and relaxation.

Emotional support for families

Our trained and experienced social workers can help people adjust emotionally to changes in circumstances. We also have a counsellor who specialises in supporting children and helping them manage emotional difficulties.

Bereavement support for families

Our trained staff can help to support adults and children through the loss of someone close.

How to get support for families

Services are open to the family members of patients who have received care from the hospice or the Marie Curie Nursing Service.
