Frequently asked questions

There’s a number of ways you can send in the money you’ve raised to Marie Curie – it all depends which method suits you.

Online
You can pay in your money online through our website – simply follow the instructions on the paying in page.

Remember – if you’re paying in your money online make sure you do not use the main donation page on our website, as otherwise we won’t know the money you’re sending us was raised through your tea party.

By post
To pay in your money by post, you can write a cheque/postal order (made payable to Marie Curie) and send it along with the donation form that’s included in your fundraising pack. Alternatively you can complete the form on the donation form, including credit/debit card details. Use the freepost self-addressed envelope provided in the pack, or send to:

Pay in your donations using a debit or credit card by calling 0800 716 146. Please tell us that you held a Blooming Great Tea Party when you pay in the money you’ve raised.

The Blooming Great Tea Party invites amazing supporters like you to throw their own tea parties in aid of Marie Curie. Every tea party is important – however large or small, anyone can join in. Tea party hosts can invite their friends, family or colleagues to join them for tea and cakes, and collect donations during the event. You could even consider holding a tea party in a shared public space, such as your local school and make it an event for the whole community to attend and enjoy.

You can hold your tea party whenever you like but our official tea party weekend is 23-25 June. Many tea party hosts choose a date that is special or that works for them.

There’s lots of ways to raise some extra dough; you could hold a raffle, organise a baking competition or have a garden games tournament complete with egg and spoon race – just ask your friends and family to donate to take part.

You can pay in the money you've raised online through our website – it's quick and easy to do!

Remember – if you’re paying in your money online make sure you do not use the main donation page on our website, as otherwise we won’t know the money you’re sending us was raised through your tea party.

We don’t currently have any way for supporters to locate tea parties occurring in their area unless that event is made public (for example, if it was a community tea party being advertised in the local paper).

Yes, you can – you’re free to invite anyone to your event. You might want to throw a tea party in your community and advertise your event locally or further afield. If you’d like more advice on throwing a bigger tea party, you can contact us on 0800 714 416* or email teaparty@mariecurie.org.uk

Of course – we’d love you to! Simply sign up for your free fundraising pack and plan your tea party with your workplace in mind – whether that’s turning your tea-break into a tea party or selling slices of cake between meetings. Perhaps you can get the boss on board, or enquire whether your workplace could match the amount of money you raise at your tea party.

Yes of course you can. Contact us on 0800 714 416* or email supporter.relations@mariecurie.org.uk and we will cancel your participation in the Blooming Great Tea Party.

Your fundraising pack will arrive within a week of signing up to host a tea party. If you can’t wait to get started, you can download some of the tea party resources included in the pack on our website.

If you email our tea party team at teaparty@mariecurie.org.uk or call them on 0800 716 146* and let us know exactly what you need, we will post this out to you as soon as possible.

By registering to throw a tea party you’ll receive a free fundraising pack which contains all the materials you need to make your tea party a great success, including:
