TCS London Marathon terms and conditions
As someone applying to take part in the TCS London Marathon in support of Marie Curie, you agree to the following terms and conditions:
General
- You understand that London Marathon Events have their own terms and conditions that you will need to agree to upon registration.
- If you are successful in securing a place through the application process the registration fee of £75 is non-refundable and this must be paid within 7 days of accepting your place.
- You must agree to raise the minimum of £2,500 (excluding Gift Aid). All donations online and offline should be sent in no later than six weeks after the event.
- By accepting a charity place, you understand that Marie Curie has the right to withdraw your place at any time with due warning, if they consider that you are not committed to raising the pledged sponsorship.
- The information you have provided will be treated confidentially and consent to it being used in the capacity stated.
Safety, fitness and injury:
- Before registering for this event, please make sure you feel able to take part health-wise; we recommend checking in with a doctor if you're not certain. If you have any medical conditions that might affect your taking part, or if something crops up after you've signed up, let the event organisers know so they can find the best way to assist you.
- Please note under the conditions of entry you warrant to the organisers that you are sufficiently fit and healthy to participate in the event unaided. So do not participate if you are feeling unwell on the day or in any doubt.
- You acknowledge and understand that the event may be potentially hazardous and that participation in any event is at your own risk. Your safety is of absolute importance to us. Make sure you follow all safety instructions and training procedures when taking part in events.
- Marie Curie, its employees, agents and volunteers accept no liability in connection with your participation in the event or for those attending and cheering you on, when it comes to any loss or damage of any kind, including loss of profits, loss of business, loss or damage to goodwill, or indirect or consequential loss caused by or connected with your participation in the event. This excludes any liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or the negligence of our employees, agents and volunteers, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
- Something else to bear in mind is that we can't accept responsibility for any damage, injury or loss that might occur through your own negligence.
- Please be sure to read carefully any terms and conditions issued by the event organisers and make sure to abide by all the advice and regulations to ensure you enjoy a safe and fun event. Please note that if you do not obey the terms of entry set by the organisers or follow their instructions on the day, you can be ejected from the event, and we accept no liability if that occurs.
Age:
- For some events, a minimum age for participation is in place. For the TCS London Marathon, you will need to be 18 and over.
- We do reserve the right to stop people from taking part in an event if someone under 18 is not able to show they have consent from their parents or guardian.
Registration and fundraising:
- Registration fees are non-refundable and entry is non-transferable.
- Those who are taking part for Marie Curie through a guaranteed charity place must agree to raise at least the minimum fundraising target of £2500 for your event. We would usually see the minimum fundraising to be raised ahead of the London Marathon, however you have six weeks after the event day to gather those last-minute donations in.
- We can't include the amount raised through Gift Aid when figuring out whether you've reached your minimum fundraising target. However, this money is still very important to the charity and the people we help, so we hope you will encourage your supporters to Gift Aid their donations where possible. Please get in touch if you'd like more information about Gift Aid
Deferrals:
- If you defer before the registration deadline and wish to defer/rollover your place, this information may be useful.
- If you unfortunately can no longer take part in the event, please get in touch with us as soon as possible.
- If the event organiser's policy allows, you can roll your event place over to the same event the following year, depending if they have spaces.
- You can only rollover/defer your place once.
- Any money you may have raised can also be rolled over to count for your fundraising total next time, and depending on when you defer, you will need to pay a registration fee for the next year's event on top of that.
Images and audio:
- Any photos, video, audio or quotes taken by us on the event day may be used by Marie Curie to inspire future fundraisers and promote our events. If you don't want to be in any photos or videos or to be quoted in any way by Marie Curie, that's absolutely fine, just let the Marie Curie team know by emailing team@mariecurie.org.uk
- Please read the organisers privacy statement carefully as amongst other matters, the organisers may also use your image for television and film of the event. We have no control over the organisers use of your information and image as it will be in accordance with their privacy statement.
Thank you for choosing to support Marie Curie in the TCS London Marathon, we can't wait to cheer you on.
