Support for families

Your family may need support and we can help them too. We can offer practical, emotional and spiritual support to the family members and close friends of patients being cared for at the hospice.

Visitors’ facilities

We have a café where families can relax, purchase refreshments and meals and access our garden. We also have newly-refurbished family lounges with kitchen areas where families can relax and use the kitchen 24 hours a day. The lounges can accommodate relatives if they feel they would like to stay overnight.

Practical, spiritual and emotional support for families

Your family may need support and we can help them in many different ways - from advice on finances and how to get appliances, to how to get social care or spiritual support from our chaplain.

Emotional support for families

Our counsellors and social workers are trained and experienced in helping people adjust to changes in circumstances. They will get to know your family, including children or grandchildren, and focus on how to best support them and help them manage any emotional difficulties.

You can arrange an individual appointment or group session depending on your preferences.

Bereavement support for families

Our trained staff can help to support adults and children through the loss of someone close.

How to get support for families

Services are open to the family members of patients who have received care from the hospice or the Marie Curie Nursing Service. Ask a nurse for more information.
