Our inpatient unit is now permanently closed.

All other services in the hospice and in Liverpool are operating as normal. Some of our staff have been seconded on a temporary basis to a new inpatient palliative care ward at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital (LHCH).

How does hospice care work?

We help people with an illness they’re likely to die from, and the people close to them, receive specialist care and support – for free. To make sure you get the right help, we start by listening to you. What matters most to you matters most to us. Our support may include:

Outpatient care

You can visit our hospice to get regular, personalised care. That may include procedures like paracentesis, blood transfusions and iron infusions, as well as bereavement support for families.

Wellbeing support

From crafting sessions to relaxing therapies, we offer a wide range of activities in the hospice to help you make social connections, try new things and live the best life possible.

Home visit

In some cases, it may be possible for a doctor or other health care professional to visit you in your own home to carry out an assessment and plan your care.

How do I get care at this hospice?

If you or someone close to you is living with a terminal illness and would like support from Marie Curie Hospice, Liverpool, please contact the healthcare professional in charge of your or your loved one's care. This might be your community palliative care team, GP, hospital consultant or district nurse.

You can also contact the IMPACT service on 0300 100 1002, which can provide information about local services and referrals to the services you need.

Why can’t I refer myself?
We work in partnership with the NHS and our hospices form just one part of your overall care. To make sure all the different types of care and support you receive are working well together, it’s helpful for them to be coordinated through the healthcare professional with overall responsibility for your care.
