Find out about our targeted calls to commission specific research projects that help support ongoing activity at the charity, such as policy and campaigns activity.
Marie Curie is looking to commission the following research project to support our vital policy work.
Call for research to improve our understanding of the role and remit of the palliative care key worker in future home-based community care for those with a life limiting illness in Northern Ireland
The aim of this commissioned research project is to estimate the current number of community based palliative care key worker staff in each Health and Social Care Trust (HSCT), to provide an overview of the palliative caseload by HSCT and identify the core duties of a palliative care key worker and how the role could be best utilised as part of a wider integrated community care model.
Up to £50,000 (including VAT, if applicable) is available for this research project, depending upon the scope and scale of the plans to be delivered.
The call is now open to applications, and applications close on Friday 23rd January 2026 at 5pm. To apply, please complete the application form as well as the supplier information questionnaire for new suppliers (if applicable).
We would encourage interested applicants to get in touch with the commissioning team at research.grants@mariecurie.org.uk to notify us if they are intending to apply.
