In the latest episode of On the Marie Curie Couch, bereavement expert Jason Davidson meets Janice Long.
Broadcaster Janice Long has been a regular fixture on the BBC radio for more than 40 years. She plays the music she loves and champions exciting new artists as she discovers them. In this episode of On the Marie Curie Couch, Janice opens up about the death of her brother, TV presenter Keith Chegwin, and explains what it was like to lose someone in the public eye.
Missing Keith
“It’s weird isn’t it?” says Janice. “The things that you never, ever get over. I mean, how many times have I gone to ring Keith? How many times have I thought, ‘Oh, I should tell my mum this,’ or ‘Josie would love-,’ and think, ‘Not here, they’re not here.’”
Grieving publicly
“I’ve got all the memories [of Keith] in my head,” says Janice. “I have looked at photographs, but it doesn’t make it easy for me. Some people find comfort in that, but I find it hard.”
