In the latest episode of On the Marie Curie Couch, bereavement expert Jason Davidson meets Linda Robson.
Actress and TV presenter Linda is best known for playing Tracey Stubbs in the sitcom Birds of a Feather. She's also appeared in The Bill, Crossroads and Casualty. Since 2012, Linda has been a regular panellist on ITV's Loose Women. In this episode of On the Marie Curie Couch, Linda opens up to Jason about the death of her mum Rita, known affectionately as 'Reet Petite'.
A big send-off
"[Mum] arranged her own funeral. In Irish culture, you've got to have a big send-off. The more cars and the more mourners that turn up, the better. It shows that you're well liked. She had a horse and carriage that took her from her house to our local church and then on from there. So many people turned up."
A lovely death
"People often talk about amazing births, but my mum had a lovely death. She was surrounded by her loved ones, she was pain free and she went peacefully in her sleep. That's what they say – that when people are talking, they try to stay awake. To stay alive."
