Take to the saddle and Pedal for a Medal in aid of Marie Curie
Press release published
Marie Curie, the official charity of the Tour de France Fan Parks (presented by Nuffield Health), is today launching Pedal for a Medal, a static cycling challenge which will pit company against company in a high-intensity fast-paced competition. Thursday 24 July plays host to the ‘Corporate challenge’ at the Canary Wharf Tour de France Fan Park, where teams of five will battle it out to see how far they can pedal in six minute relays. Distances will be captured in a real-time leader board so that teams can check out the competition, with sessions running throughout the day. For those who fancy themselves as the next Wiggins, the ‘Endurance challenge’ will be taking place from 11.30-16.30 on Friday 25 July. Competing in 25 minute and hour relays, teams of eight super-cyclists will compete for the glory of being named the most elite cycling team in E14. Both events have a £10 per person registration fee and we are asking teams to raise £400 and £800 respectively, to fund vital care for terminally ill people when they need it most. Marie Curie is delighted that Pedal for a Medal is being supported by Nuffield Health, which allows us to direct even more donations to fund our dedicated nurses. Dr Jane Collins, Chief Executive of Marie Curie, said: “What better way is there to celebrate the arrival of the biggest annual sporting event to the capital than to have your very own competition? Pedal for a Medal is your chance for you and your colleagues to test your fitness against other companies and see, once and for all, who is the fittest. “All the money raised will help Marie Curie to offer free care for people with terminal illnesses and their families, both in London and across the UK.” To register a team, visit www.mariecurie.org.uk/static-cycle -ENDS- |
