How your fundraising helps
£23 could help provide one hour of expert nursing care for someone living with a terminal illness at home.
£52 could help provide two hours of bereavement support by phone or webchat.
£200 could help provide nine hours of overnight nursing support, bringing comfort to a person in their final days at home.
Following a stay in a Marie Curie hospice, Gary was supported by nurse, Kate, so that he could spend his last Christmas at home with his wife, Janette, and daughters, Leanne and Emma.
Emma says "I found Christmas really difficult. We definitely stuck to traditions. It was the four of us in the house playing games. We tried to keep everything as normal as we could."
"I don't think I would have coped without Marie Curie," Janette admits. "Just knowing that Kate was just a phone call away was a help all on its own.
"When Gary passed it made us want to pay something back. We fundraise because we want to keep the service there. If it wasn't for Marie Curie, I don't know what would've happened. They kept Gary out of pain, which kept us able to care for him."
Frequently asked questions
Why should I fundraise for Marie Curie?
Your fundraising helps Marie Curie provide expert hands-on care in people's homes and in our hospices across the UK. It also helps us provide support over the phone, and push for a better end of life for all by campaigning and sharing research to change the system.
Every pound you raise directly contributes to ensuring that more people can receive the care they need at the most difficult times. Your fundraising will help us be there for more people, to the very end.

How do I fundraise?
We want you to have fun and get festive whilst raising vital funds for Marie Curie. Whatever you choose to do, every penny you raise will help us spread care, comfort and joy this Christmas.
You can get started by creating your JustGiving fundraising page and add a target, photo and why you're supporting Marie Curie to encourage people to donate.

I already have my own plans for a Christmas fundraiser. How do I let you know?
This is lovely news! Please register your fundraising event and we'll send you your fundraising pack in the post.

How do I promote my fundraiser?
Spread the word far and wide! As well as sending direct invites to your friends and family, you can share your JustGiving page on social media or in your group chats or email for extra donations.
You can download invitations and posters and put them up around your local community, workplace, pubs and businesses.
We can't wait to see what fun you get up to, so please do share your stories and photos with @MarieCurieUK!
How do I collect donations?
The easiest place to start is by setting up a JustGiving page and setting a target amount you aim to raise. Friends and family can donate directly to the page, and you can share it on social media and via WhatsApp to encourage others to donate too.
You can also personalise your page to share why you're fundraising – read some tips on how to make the most of your fundraising page.
If you're collecting donations in cash, you will have received a donation and sponsorship form in your pack. If you've misplaced your pack or want to get fundraising right away, you can also download and print a sponsorship form here. Gift Aid can also be added to donations made on this form.
