How our hospices help

From medical and physical support to psychological and emotional care, whatever your illness, at whatever stage of the journey, we help you to live the best life possible – right to the end.

Clinical

Whether you're staying with us as an in-patient, or coming in for the day, we make sure you get the nursing and medical treatment you need in a caring, dignified environment.

Emotional and psychological

How you’re feeling mentally is as important as how you’re feeling physically.

Physical

Our team can help with breathing, movement and mobility issues. But you can also drop into group exercise or yoga sessions.

Practical

We can help you with practical matters, like assessing your home to see what equipment or adaptations could help.

Spiritual

Our hospice care team can provide a listening ear and help you find other support, for example from counsellors, chaplains or faith leaders.

Support for those close to you

We'll be there for the people closest to you, right now and in the future.

How do I get care at a Marie Curie Hospice?

If you or a loved one is living with a terminal illness and would like to use our services, please contact the healthcare professional in charge of your or your loved one's care. This might be your Community Palliative Care team, GP, hospital consultant or district nurse. We work in partnership with the NHS and our hospices form just one part of your overall care. To make sure all the different types of care and support you receive are working well together, it’s helpful for them to be co-ordinated through the healthcare professional with overall responsibility for your care.

When the word ‘hospice’ was mentioned, we really didn’t want to think about it. It felt like saying that was the end, that we couldn’t do anything more for her.

But when we arrived at the hospice we were stunned. Straight away we felt all the hospice staff – doctors, nurses, cooks, cleaners, everyone – were there for all of us. They weren’t only caring for Mum. We couldn’t have asked for better care.
