Let Team Marie Curie take you on a cycling trip of a lifetime
If you’re a cycling enthusiast, then Marie Curie might just have the challenge of a lifetime for you.
As part of Team Marie Curie, you may find yourself pedalling the epic Lands’ End to John O’Groats, in the middle of the Nicaraguan jungle or flying full throttle from London to Paris to watch the finale of the Tour de France. Join Team Marie Curie and find your next cycling challenge and help our nurses to care for more people living with terminal illnesses.
Damian and Martin joined Team Marie Curie after their mother, Patricia, died just five weeks after being diagnosed with skin cancer. Patricia was cared for by our nurses at the Marie Curie Hospice, Glasgow.
Damian says, "As all too many people know, losing a parent at a relatively young age is really tough. Our mum was one of the most caring, understanding and, above all, fun-loving people you could ever wish to meet. The staff and volunteers at the Marie Curie Hospice allowed her to carry on being all of those things throughout her time there."
Inspired by the care their mother had received at the hospice, Damien and Martin were joined by friends and family to make their own fantastic cycling team called ‘The Flying Helmets’. Their challenge: the famous John O’Groats to Lands’ End cycle in support of Marie Curie. Martin sums up the experience: "What started as an incredible challenge became an experience of a lifetime".
